One of the most important influences on whether a responder thrives or survives is health and wellness; both physical and mental. The job impacts so much of our responder’s life and in turn their families. How do you navigate it? How do you help on a daily basis? How do your recognize the signs of a responder or family member in crisis? When/Where can we go for help? This page is dedicated to putting tools in your tool box to help the responder, the spouse, and the family thrive on a daily basis, but also to understand when it’s more than a bad day. As we continue to build the site, this page will be dedicated to medical expert articles, on-line videos and local resources to help you every day. Stay tuned!

We recognize that Administration’s job is to support and train their employees for the job, serve the community, and address the health and safety of both. The First Responder Family Resource Group is dedicated to supporting the family and finding ways to partner with administration so that everyone is safe and thriving. As we continue to build the site, this page will include identified resources for administration to also support families of the newly hired and long-time service employees. Stay tuned!

Kids Kid-Friendly – Helping Them Connect

When I grow up I want to be a firefighter/a police officer/a doctor! Little minds are fabulous things. They absorb everything! Having a first responder parent changes how kids see their world. It can be exciting, scary, fun and confusing. That’s a lot for a young person to digest without help. As we continue to build the site, this page will be dedicated to help kids through activities, books and videos understand their first responder’s job, how to connect when daddy/mommy is quiet, and give them and their parents tools to handle the everyday challenges of being a first responder kid. The First Responder Community is an amazing group of people. Whether you’re connected to police, fire, health care, search and rescue, 911 dispatch – we are all in this together. Being part of this amazing larger community can be a culture shock! As we continue to build the site, this page will be dedicated to helping you and your family navigate the journey with articles from experienced members, on-line training videos, and peer support connections. Resource Library One cannot have too many tools in their family resource toolbox, but what works for one family may look different for another. There are so many resources out there it can be overwhelming. The following books have been read, reviewed, and submitted by local first responder families.
